Please be advised that we will begin aerifying our greens tomorrow: Thursday, August 29th.
Due to weather considerations, we will be aerating the greens and will provide temporary putting greens on both Thursday and Friday. The golf course will be open for play both days. Please stay off the regular putting greens. Please note that the maintenance crew has their hands full and work will continue all day regardless of play.
We can still use help if any members are available to volunteer to rake plugs on Thursday at 8:30 AM.
We always hear the question, “Why punch the greens now when they are playing so nice and the weather is good? Can’t you wait until later in the fall?”
The reason for punching the greens now is that we have good growing weather and relatively long daylight hours. These two factors will make our greens heal much faster and stay healthier and resistant to disease through the winter months.
We also need all the healing time we can get between aerification and the Champion of Champions Tournament on September 29th. This is a great opportunity to show off our golf course to the local golf community, and we want to make the most of it!
